About Us

CBIRT is a research and training center within the Department of Psychology at the University of Oregon, dedicated to advancing evidence-based supports for individuals with brain injury. Through innovative research and the dissemination of best practices, we work to improve educational, employment, and quality-of-life outcomes for children and adults — and to build the capacity of the caregivers, educators, and professionals who support them.

Partners in these endeavors include individuals with brain injury, family members, educators and other professionals who serve individuals with brain injury, hospitals, and research colleagues throughout the United States and beyond.

Our research interests include:

  • hospital-to-school re-entry process,
  • educational outcomes of students following brain injury,
  • school services for students post-brain injury,
  • interventions to improve social relationships for students with brain injury,
  • transition of youth with brain injury from school to adult roles, and
  • systematic instruction in assistive technology to improve outcomes and quality of life for adults with brain injury.
